High school counselors, college placement counselors, independent counselors, and advisors play a critical role in helping young men and women prepare for their next step in life. The Office of University Admissions at Mercer University is here to provide you with specific information for you and your students to aid in the admissions process at Mercer. The Application Process

Applicants to Mercer University may submit an application for admission online using the Mercer Application or The Common Application. A complete application file also includes:
  • Official SAT or ACT test score
  • Official high school transcript
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or high school counselor who knows the student well

Important Dates and Deadlines


  • Mercer begins accepting applications for first-year admission on August 1


  • Saturday Preview is on September 22
  • Bear Tracks is on September 29


  • Beginning October 1, students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at
  • The non-binding Early Action deadline to be considered for the University’s most prestigious scholarships, ranging up to full tuition and beyond is October 15
  • Saturday Preview is on October 20


  • Mercer Homecoming is November 2-4
  • Early Action admission decisions are released the first full week of November
  • Engineering Scholarship Challenge is on November 10
  • Saturday Preview is on November 17


  • Presidential Scholars Weekend is November 30-December 1 (Students who complete an application by October 15 and meet specific academic criteria are invited to compete for our most prestigious scholarships, up to full tuition and beyond)
  • Stamps Scholars interviews are held on December 1


  • Applications due on January 9 for our School of Medicine's Special Consideration Program
  • Saturday Preview and Media Changemaker Scholars Competition are on January 26
  • Enrollment Guides containing detailed next steps are mailed to students who have been accepted to Mercer


  • Regular decision application deadline is February 1 to be considered for some of the University's most prestigious scholarships, ranging up to full tuition
  • Deadline to submit an application to the University Honors Program is February 1
  • Business Scholarship Challenge is on February 2
  • Heritage Scholars Day is on February 23 (Applicants who meet specific academic criteria are invited to compete for University scholarships, up to full tuition)
  • Families schedule financial aid conversation with admissions counselor


  • Recommended application deadline is March 15 to receive an invitation to attend our accepted student event, Make It Mercer!, on April 6
  • Saturday Preview is on March 16
  • Housing Application available for submission


  • Accepted students and families attend Make It Mercer! on April 6
  • Deposited students complete their Mercer Academic Profile


  • Enrollment deposit for fall semester is due May 1


  • Incoming students attend Summer Orientation


  • Office of the Bursar posts fall semester bills to student accounts


  • Opening Day for first-year students is on August 17

Students may register for campus tours and special admissions events online with their Mercer account username and password. (This account is also used to request information or complete an application for admission. If an account does not exist, the student has the opportunity to quickly create a new account.)
